Designing for Equity: A Politics of Care Framework for DLBE

This interactive session on DLBE and equity introduces a politics of care framework developed through research of an exemplar DLBE program in the Midwest. Participants will explore five interconnected tenets of a politics of care—relational, intersectional, material, political, and dynamic—and examine how they shape equitable program design and implementation, with concrete examples of practice. Through guided reflection and small-group discussion, DLBE educators and leaders will analyze how their own programs currently enact (or fall short of) these forms of care and will identify opportunities for strengthening equity-centered practices in their local contexts.
