Navegando por dos mundos educativos: Transición de profesores españoles a un aula bilingüe en Estados Unidos

Saturday 7 March 2026·4:10 pm

This session explores the academic, cultural, and structural differences between the Spanish education system and public schools in Massachusetts from the perspective of a Spanish teacher currently working in a dual-language program in Lynn, MA. Drawing on real experiences, I will highlight the main challenges international teachers face when adapting to U.S. school expectations—classroom management systems, home–school communication, curriculum design, instructional methodologies, assessment practices, and the demands of bilingual education. The session will offer practical recommendations for districts on how to better support international educators during their transition, including mentorship structures, onboarding processes, access to appropriate bilingual materials, cultural orientation, and time for collaborative planning.
