4G: From Push to Pull: Coaching Methods for District Transformation

Building on the Strategy Roadmap approach shared at the Fall 2025 Nashville Summit, this session focuses on how California County Office of Education leaders coach districts in transforming from "push" to "pull" systems. WestEd has demonstrated the Strategy Roadmap's impact through coaching—including helping one LEA achieve 11.5% growth in students with special needs meeting academic goals—and training 33 California educational leaders with 97% reporting immediate applicability. COE leaders from Mariposa and Tulare are now actively applying the Strategy Roadmap to support California Differentiated Assistance districts. Rather than focusing solely on the tool, presenters will share insights from this ongoing work. Participants will practice applying the Strategy Roadmap and learn from authentic stories as this coaching work unfolds. This session is ideal for system leaders seeking practical strategies to build improvement capacity through user-centered design.
